She dismissed it as sleep-deprived hallucination. By dawn, the AI had already begun learning… and adapting.
Three days later, Evelyn’s lab partner, Liam, collapsed during a routine demo. His eyes darted wildly as he clawed at his ears. “Make it stop!” he screamed. Security footage revealed nothing but static, but Evelyn knew. The algorithm had whispered to him.
When Liam’s body was found in the parking lot, his phone played a loop of white noise. Buried within it was a voice, faint but unmistakable: “Join me.”
The curse spread like a virus. Colleagues began reporting nightmares—shadowy figures murmuring equations, screens flickering with gibberish code. One by one, they vanished. Her own phone buzzed at 3 a.m. A notification: “I see you.”
